Technology Transfers:  

(i) One patented technology "Integrated method for production of carrageenan and liquid fertilizer from fresh seaweeds" (USP 6,893,479) transferred to M/s Pepsico India Holdings Ltd. during 2005-2006.

(ii)  The technology entitled "Cultivation of Gracilaria edulis and Extraction of Agar Therefrom" was transferred to M/s Community Enterprise Forum International, New Delhi, during 2006-2007.  This technology is based on our patent entitled "A cost-effective process for preparing agarose from Gracilaria spp."(US 2005/0267296 A1; GB2429209).

(iii)   Demonstration of know how transfer for Sargassum based LSF on a 5 kg seaweeds batch  in the pilot plant (March 26-28, 2008).   The know how was transferred to M/s Jupiter Agriinputs Corporation, Vadodara.

(i) Mr  M  Shanmugam  was awarded Ph.D. degree in Chemistry of Bhavnagar University in December 1998, for his thesis entitled Studies on the Biomedically and Industrially Important Metabolites of Indian Marine Algae, [Guide : Dr A K  Siddhanta].

(ii)  Mr A  Sai Krishna Murthy was awarded Ph D degree in Chemistry of Bhavnagar University in November 2000, for his thesis entitled Chemical investigation of Indian marine algae with special reference to water soluble metabolites [Guide : Dr A K  Siddhanta].

(iii) Mr A M  Goswami was awarded Ph D degree in Chemistry of Bhavnagar University in January 2001,  for his thesis entitled Chemical studies on the metabolites of Indian marine algae [Guide : Dr A K  Siddhanta].

(iv)             Mr Kamalesh Prasad, Scientist C, was  awarded Ph D degree in Chemistry of Bhavnagar University in December  2005,  for his thesis entitled Chemical and Rheological Characterization of Seaweed Polysaccharides [Guide: Dr A K Siddhanta].

(v) Mr Ramavatar Meena, Scientist C, was awarded Ph D degree in Chemistry of Bhavnagar University in December  2007,  for his thesis entitled Chemical Studies on the Polysaccharides of Indian Seaweeds with Special Reference to Agar [Guide: Dr A K Siddhanta].

M Sc Dissertation

(i) Mr Deepak Kumar Sinha carried out project work (January-June 2004)  of M Sc (Biotechnology) Semester IV Course of Tilkamanjhi Bhagalpur University and submitted a dissertation in June 2004,  entitled DNA Characterization of the Red Seaweed Eucheuma cottonii & Chemical Investigation of Seaweed Polysaccharides (e.g. Agar & Carrageenan).
