Terms & Conditions:-

CSIR-Central Salt and Marine Chemical Research Institute (CSIR-CSMCRI) is a premier S&T institute in Bhavnagar functioning under Council of Scientific Industrial Research (CSIR) headquartered at New Delhi. The main thrust of this institute is to develop innovative technology platforms for harnessing the potentials of select marine living and non-living resources sustainably for economic gains contributing to the holistic economic growth of the nation. CSIR-CSMCRI pioneered the seaweed cultivation in the sea as well downstream processing technologies for their effective utilisation. There are more than 2000 households living in coastal villages have adopted seaweed cultivation as means of alternative livelihood and earning reasonable additional income improving their living standards. Seaweed cultivation has now evolved into a social enterprise in the country. Nevertheless, it is a seasonal and stopped during monsoon period due to unfavourable sea conditions. The seaweed growers face severe seaweed biomass crisis while restarting their farms soon after monsoon retreats. Therefore, it is inevitable to have some wave resisting floating structures suitable for farming of seaweeds in the sea even during monsoon period. Since there is no in-house expertise and capability in marine structural design and engineering, it is proposed to hold an informal meet of interested parties with proven competency in marine structural design and engineering. I’m sure this meet will serve as an excellent platform for showcasing and demonstrating your capabilities in designing, fabrication and deploying of floating structures in the sea. The main objective of this meet is to identify the parties with proven competencies in designing and setting up of low cost floating farms suitable for farming seaweeds in the coastal waters. The meeting will be held at the institute at 10.30 AM on 29th March 2017. Any further queries in this regards may be addressed to Dr. CRK Reddy (crk@csmcri.res.in).
